Pittsburgh-based photographer Michael Haritan's photographs of the Chernobyl disaster area bring a powerful immediacy to the stories of the survivors and refugees of the infamous 1986 nuclear meltdown. Join Michael as he shares how his own path brought him to Chernobyl, the tales of the people he met there, and the effects on the natural environment which will continue for thousands of years. Copies of Michael's book, Chernobyl: Aftermath of the World's Greatest Nuclear Disaster will be available for purchase.
As a special preview, a selection of Michael's photographs will be on display in the Library throughout the month of May.
